Friends of the Grove Hall Library President Patricia Carrington began collecting petitions urging the city not to go forward with a proposal to move the library into the nearby Jeremiah Burke High School.
The opposition prompted City Councilor Chuck Turner to call last week for a hearing.
Carrington said that she and others oppose moving the library because the building's current site is convenient for seniors and other patrons, while the proposed location would be less convenient.
