NSW: One woman dead and a man injured in fatal crash
One woman has died and a man was injured after their car hit a tree and slid into acreek in the Snowy Mountains in southern New South Wales.
An ambulance spokesman says the car hit a tree about 8.30am (AEST) on the Batlow toTumut Rd, approximately 15km south of Tumut, before ending up in a creek.
The driver of the car, a 54-year-old woman, was killed and her passenger, a 23-year-oldman, was trapped in the wreckage for 90 minutes.
The passenger was freed just before 10am and taken to Tumut Hospital where he was treatedfor a broken arm and hypothermia.
The accident is the most serious of a number of collisions on NSW roads today, as holiday-makersmade their way home from the long weekend.
