Toyota Motor Corp. wants Americans to realize how much investment the automaker has made in the United States, using a new national ad campaign.

Toyota fears that the public and the nation's policymakers don't realize how many assembly plants, engine factories and parts operations it has here. The company began placing ads in newspapers including The Wall Street Journal in late July to drive home the point.

"It's an engine for economic growth," reads one full-page ad. The ad shows an American Toyota worker among a sea of engines at one of Toyota's three U.S. engine plants.
